Life of Sonder – a Life of Exploring

Fill your life with experiences, not things.

Travel & Adventure are Life.

It is our desire to experience the world, and to travel that really sets a sonder seeker apart from other people.

For us, travel and adventure are LIFE – it’s not just two or three weeks vacation time a year, but a constant wanderlust and a choice to embrace that feeling and break out of societal chains in order to do it more.

Living a life of sonder means you are not just living your story, but writing it

You are choosing experiences over things.

Today, depression and anxiety threaten our minds and our children at devastating rates.

These challenging times and experiences are only magnified by the pervasive influence of the internet and the persistent comparisons it fosters.

Our mental well-being is under constant attack.

There is no “one size fits all” solution because we are each unique individuals, however, I do believe there is some indefinable connection between mood and spending time outside, exploring new or familiar places, people, and things.

“Our mental well-being

is under constant

attack.”

Being outside can bring peace and happiness to our lives.  Nature can literally give us breath and help us see the bigger picture.  It can give our minds clarity.  It can teach us gratitude.

Travel is a natural extension of these same principles for the Sonder Seeker.

Having freedom to explore shows us just how big the world really is and we can use that sense of awe and wonder to power our choices and change our thought patterns.

This newfound love can then naturally extend outward to those we are closest to because they will see its effect on us.

For us, we truly see the value that travel and experiences (both the good and the bad ones) can bring to our lives.

We use travel as a tool to combat the unique challenges we face today.

We desire to put down electronics and exist in the real world more — opening ourselves up to the possibilities near and far.

“We use travel as a tool to combat the unique challenges we face today.”

When we immerse ourselves in different cultures, places, and communities we discover new perspectives and gain a deep appreciation for the richness and diversity of the world around us.

We gain empathy and understanding, and realize we are more alike than we are different.  We realize we are never alone.  We find beauty in unexpected places.

Moreover, exploring can help us discover our passions, interests, and strengths. When we open ourselves up to trying new things, visiting new places, and meeting new people, we learn more about ourselves and we grow.

We may even find that we have untapped potential or skills that we had never even considered before!

Traveling can also promote growth, resilience, and adaptability within our families. It can give us the courage to step outside our comfort zones, embrace uncertainty and change, and develop the skills needed to navigate new and challenging situations.  And experiencing all of that together builds a solid foundation for our relationships.

When we truly seek experiences OVER things, we embrace the unknown, the uncomfortable, and we become something entirely new.

We grow in ways that we never knew were possible and we do it together.

Prioritize experiences and travel both near and far.  Get out of your comfort zone, and get lost in the adventure of life.

Remember that “traveling” doesn’t always have to be somewhere distant.  We use what is available to us and work up to more as life evolves and changes.

There is absolutely no way an individual can see it all and do it all in a single lifetime, so USE the time you do have to simply explore more.

If you take anything away from this post it is this:  you will never regret spending more time outside – especially if you are doing it with people you love.

In a world where so many are inside,

Be outside.
